In The Still Of The Night.

I want nothing more this weekend then to spend some romantic time with my love... How much I adore waking up next to him on a chilly morning with the beautiful snow falling outside our windows.... next we have coffee and discuss our busy weeks while we stand in the kitchen.. this could last for hours.. we finally manage to get dressed and decide what winter adventure {he ALWAYS picks this} we will take our girls on... last weekend it was ice skating.

I love feminine and romantic decor...

- A fabulous throw at the bottom of the bed to snuggle in-

- A lovely chandelier in an unexpected place.. the rose petals help a tad. ;)

- A warm fire with comfortable pillows to lounge on.

- Though it may be a tad too feminine for some, this entire space feels romantic.

- I love when the sun shines in to awaken a beautiful nights sleep.

- Roses, crystals, and old love letters are nice as well.

Golden Warmth.

Even with the hint of sunshine glowing through my bedroom windows this morning, everything around me still looks like this...

And though I favor shades of silver, I've noticed that the Golden and Amber shades do seem to add such warmth to a space.. I've found a few lovely photographs below showing just that...

I have learned many {interior related} things this year. One of which is the obvious.. that I will never, ever tire of black and white interiors.

And that the idea of colorful interiors is one that I find quite tempting. What energy some of these rooms must have.. I do not know, however, if I would easily tire of them.

But most importantly I have learned that so many others out there share the same passion for interior design as I do. Before I discovered blogging, I had only a small number of people to discuss decor with. And now, not only can I share my ideas, work, inspiration, and {home} fantasies, but I can also read about the many others that feel the same. So on that note, 2009 was a great year.. a year of discovery perhaps.. a year of learning and trying new things.. a year of realizing that my dream career may {hopefully} one day come true...
So here is to you my fellow bloggers..

Thankful.

Thankful seems like such a small word when I think of all of the blessings I have..

Each of these table tops are so beautiful in their own lovely, individual and meaningful way.

And though decorating for the holidays is one of my very favorite things to do, I am determined to think less of the china matching the silver, or the napkins folded just right, and instead focus on WHO is at my table and WHY they are there.

Yes the food will be delicious. But more delicious than a warm pumpkin pie is the feeling of warmth in one's heart when a simple glance around that beautiful table will feed one's soul with memories and love.

THAT is perhaps the best recipe for a perfect Thanksgiving.

And I plan on creating lots and lots of it.

Below are three lovely ideas that capture the essence of Thanksgiving yet are simple to recreate.

I love the simple message of "Thanks" on this napkin ring. However, one could also use this same idea but with names instead, creating lovely place cards.

What I love most about this lovely idea is the way mine will be created. My girls and I are going to enjoy a walk through the park on a chilly Saturday morning and they will be filled with pride as they find the perfect pine cones to use for our display.

The smell. Can you imagine the smell? This is a must.

I hope I have given a tad of inspiration to you..

It's a cold dreary Wednesday, I'm stuck in the office working overtime so I can attend my girls' Halloween party... so I thought a quick post on a few lovely places I would rather be is in order.. and of course I find much inspiration from these rooms as well......

A lovely dinner with my family.. or a long warm soak in the tub.. {sigh}
I do look forward to Trick or Treat tomorrow.
Madison is going to be a "goth" {her idea} Pirate. She has the cutest ... I mean er creapiest vampire dress with a black sash at her waist.. I still need a sword.. she has a black bandanna .. and her favorite part, black nail polish, lipstick, and fake piercings....

Paris Abella is going to be a ballerina.. her tutu is pastel pink and black with silver accents.. I made her a pink choker w/pink ribbon and fake rhinestones.. spray on glitter.. she looks like a porcelin doll I swear it! She and Madison had such a fun time last night w/their costume "dress rehearsal". Madison turned on one of our classical cd's and spinned her sister around like she was a ballerina in a jewlry box. I couldn't ask for a better big sister for Paris.. Madison has helped me so much since Paris was born.. I remember times when I couldn't understand what Paris was saying or wanted and Madison would tell me.. or just fix it.. so my goth vampire is really quite the angel.. ;) whether she likes/knows it or not...

Those who know me know I love all things vintage. So when browsing Country Living and came across this article, I just had to share. The pics are fantastic and the story even more so.. enjoy...

Lanterns swing from branches, casting a golden light across a bed of fallen leaves, and beneath the indigo sky, a long table is set with treats and realistic-looking ravens. The pathway to this setting is lined with jack-o'-lanterns, and even before the party's festivities, which include vintage games and a magic show, the air is filled with excitement. "

"When he entertains, Bruce combines his collection with items from his line of reproduction vintage designs. These include dinnerware (the plates' orange rims feature reproduced storybook illustrations from the 1920s and '30s) on a table with a "Web" tablecloth fashioned from cheesecloth. The table is also set with early-20th-century noisemakers and 1930s Bakelite flatware. A Hauntingly Wonderful Weekend.

One of the things I enjoy about fall is when the weather is chilly, the warm cocoa seems to taste even more divine than usual.

In addition to shopping for Halloween costumes, I want to take Brad and our girls for a walk to collect some elements of nature to bring indoors.

And when the sun goes down and our girls are tucked in bed, we will light some pumpkin scented candles and sip some dark merlot.
It has been a very long and difficult week and I am very much looking forward to spending time with my family.

After my post on Greta Garbo, I decided against trying to portray her for Halloween and going with something a little simpler. And I am having so much fun with it!

Brad is going to be a Fedora wearing, cigar smoking mobster and I will be his lady friend from the roaring twenties!

I do NOT want to be a "costume flapper". I went to the antique store a few days ago and was able to find gloves, pearls, and THE PERFECT HAT. It's cream with black feathers... black netting with the original tiny beads still intact! I couldn't believe it and am so in love with my items...

I am however, having trouble finding a dress... I want it all to be authentic but not spend a fortune.

I may try to create my own dress from something slinky in my closet.. we'll see.. but I will roll down my stockings, rouge my knees, and all that jazz...

I will wear a garter and in it place my flask of booze ;)

This is going to be so much fun!

Baby It's Cold Outside.

I am uncertain as to why, but it has been unseasonably cold this week.

The kind of cold that makes you want to stay indoors bake and snuggle under warm covers.

I am looking forward to doing some more fall decorating with my girls.

I'm also considering heading out to a Pumpkin Festival or Pumpkin Patch.

I love the scent of pumpkin seeds roasting. And drinking cocoa while warming our hands by the stove. I love the smell of the inside of a pumpkin... Each time we carve a pumpkin I tell my girls to smell the inside.. to remember that smell.. there is nothing like it..

I also am looking forward to warm coffee early Saturday morning and hopefully snuggling up in a warm blanket on our front porch with Brad...
A weekend of comfort.. that is most definitely my wish this Friday.. my wish for me.. my wish for you..

When I woke up this morning and went downstairs to pour my morning cup of coffee I couldn't help but notice the trees blowing wildly outside my window in the cool morning air... "cool morning air".

Yes. It's here. Officially.

I am of course very happy about the arrival of fall. I adore fall.. the smells, the colors, the sound of the wind, the crackle of the fallen leaves..

My girls and I are having so much fun planning for Halloween.. the decorations are up, but we want more! And both girls have changed their costume ideas at least five times.. as of right now Madison is going to be Mother Nature or a Rockin' Witch. Paris Abella is going to be a Lady Bug or a Ballerina..

I usually try to add images to my posts that match my words.. and though it may seem these do not, they actually do... Why? Because I just looked out the window at the cool gray sky and felt the overwhelming sensation that this really is it..

Goodbye lovely girly colored flowers and hello mums. Goodbye lovely silk night gown and hello fleece and Brad's comfy huge socks. Goodbye warmth of sunshine, hello lovely jacket...

Goodbye Summer, I shall miss you. Hello Fall, I've been waiting for you.

Tonight an extra blanket will be thrown on our beds... I look forward to snuggling in it.

The look of this room.

My ten yr.olds room is similar as far as the colors. I've recently painted her wood furniture black and it looks fantastic. It added just enough sophistication to it to take it from "little girl" to "tween".

Before:

These "sea" items have been removed..we were going for a surfer girl look.. she's a tom boy and loves Roxy, etc.. Now there is a black sign that says "Rock Star" w/fuscia and neon green stars.. definitely fits her personality more now..

The shelf you see in this picture has been painted black along w/her book shelf and dresser.. I regret that I don't have any "after" pics at this time but will post some as soon as I can..
Her bed is similar to the iron one in the first photo.. I considered painting it black but am still afraid to... I like the look of the blue too.. What do you think?

Into the Mountains For the Weekend.

Were packing up and heading into the country tomorrow morning.. We have family with cabins right on the river.. The weather will be chilly.. my girls can run free, Brad will fish and enjoy time with his brothers and I will take pictures and collect nature for my vases at home while enjoying time with the ladies of the family.. playing with the kids, rocking chairs on the front porch in warm comfy clothes... I am really looking forward to this trip.

I Often Wonder.

What it is about the color black that I love so much. As one can easily see, I adore black whether interior or exterior.
Is it the the feeling it brings of sultry elegance? The dark mysteriousness?

Or perhaps it's the feeling of glamour?

Perhaps it's the way a demur amount can add sophistication to a space.

Surprisingly to some, black can be quite versatile. For example, it is usually associated with modern decor. However, in my opinion, the color black adds a touch of elegance to what one may consider country or shabby.

Regardless of reason, I adore this color.. I would even go as far as to say it is my signature color.. hence the name Black Ribbon Interiors...
For those that have considered using black but fear it's darkness, I say take the risk.. and I can assure you that you will be pleased with the results...

On another note...much of todays rooms I see are filled with white.. white walls, white furniture, and then pops of color.. what is more timeless than black and white? Why not try the all white fad with color and also black? This I imagine would be quite stunning..

So I will no longer wonder why... The colors description alone is reason enough... dark, mysterious, sultry, cultured, elegant... yes..yes.. I love all of those!

I love when I visit someones home and it is filled with interesting things to look at.. photographs, artwork, collections, even framed fabrics.

The images below are a few things hanging in my staircase... artwork from my daughters and old photo's..

And this is a little something I made for a friend.. Framed sheet music she had shared with a very close friend of hers.. one would play while the other sang.. as a gift she had me frame it for her.. When I suggested we frame it she thought it was a lovely idea.. I think this would look nice as a part of a gallery wall as well.

And last of all, a framed antique dresser scarf I made for my daughters room.. I loved the colors in the stitching and painted the frame to match..

And I think any of these images would be an outstanding addition...

Greta Garbo- Born Greta Lovisa Gustafsson on September 18, 1905.

I have always been a fan of Hollywood's Golden Age. One of my favorite actresses is Ms. Greta Garbo. I began a bit of research on her as I decided to TRY to portray Ms. Garbo for Halloween. What I learned was far more interesting than I expected and to be honest, quite sad.

"Being a movie star, and this applies to all of them, means being looked at from every possible direction. You are never left at peace, you're just fair game."

She lived a very private life. No signing autographs, no interviews. And after a much publicized romance and three proposals agreed to marrie John Gilbert in 1926. It is said that she left him at the altar.

"You don't have to be married to have a good friend as your partner for life. "

She went on to do more films such as Camille.

She continued to live alone in her New York home until her unfortunate death.
Prior to her death however, Garbo received a 1954 Honorary Academy Award "for her unforgettable screen performances" and in 1999 was ranked as the fifth greatest female star of all time by the American Film Institute.

After learning her story I am now uncertian as to whether or not I will try to portray her.. it almost feels disrespectful in a way..
"I never said, 'I want to be alone.' I only said, 'I want to be left alone.' There is all the difference."

"The story of my life is about back entrances, side doors, secret elevators and other ways of getting in and out of places so that people won't bother me."

Ms. Garbo, you were a beautiful talent. A true lady that valued her privacy and I respect that highly. Thank you for sharing your on screen talent as it played such an important role in our American history of entertainment. You were one of the greats and I am honored to now know your story.

A deliciously beautiful weekend.

This evening when I leave work I am taking Paris to Target to get herself a barbie. She has earned this money on her own through helping around the house, making her own bed in the mornings, and helping clear the table after supper...as has Madison.. Madison however, will be spending the night with a friend from school. Brad is fishing and I have coffee and merlot to drink and a new vintage mirror to paint. I also plan on doing a little baking and gardening.. I cannot wait to leave the office and feel the crisp fall air blended with the warm sunshine..

As one can likely tell by my blog title, I have a love for all things black.. this includes decor and fashion. This weekend my daughter Madison and I had a great yet messy time painting her bedroom furniture black. Her walls are aqua and she has items in hot pink in her room as well. This is a "tween" room and it looks so rock n' roll.. we love it.. I couldn't believe what a major difference it made in her room. It added just a bit of sophistication to the room. My computer at home is down so I am unable at this time to post photos of our hard work :( However, here are some lovely photos of black decor... some of my favorites.. and the one w/the interior door painted black... I am seriously considering that! I love it...

Is that not the best scent EVER? We can have this scent, thanks to dear Martha, without actually baking.. How?

Carve your pumpkin like so. Rub the inside with cinamonn, pumpkin pie spice,or both. You can even press cloves into the top.. Add a t-lite candle and you have six hours of divine.

What is it about fall that makes the sunshine look different? It has been a lovely 68 degrees in my home town for the last few days. Though I was sad to say goodbye to summer, I have to admit I am looking forward to the wonderful things that autumn brings...

Baking and the smell of apples, vanilla and cinamonn from the kitchen.

Outdoor dinners on evenings in which the air is cool yet the sunshine still warms your face.

Weekend Project. {Closet Revamp}

Though I certainly delight in the idea of a closet that looks like this..

I have to think realistically. I am working on a budget. And quite frankly, I do not have half the clothing or accessories pictured in the above closets. {purses... maybe ;)}
So.. as always, before beginning my project, I sought after inspiration via the net.. and I managed to find some great ideas...
I share this closet with Brad, so organization and separation is key here. I also want to include a full length mirror, and two hampers.. One for laundry, the other for dry cleaning items.

I like this DIY idea from Martha Stewart. Very simple and space saving...

Martha suggests using acid free tissue paper in organization or craft boxes to protect small wool items such as gloves and scarfs.

To protect clothing,one can use cedar planks or dried lavender.

Stuff handbags with acid free tissue paper to maintain shape and cover with a flannel bag to protect from light and dust {most come with these at the time of purchase}

And lastly, I am sure you've all heard of using a Polaroid image on the outside of shoe boxes. I however, do not have that many shoes, so I plan on arranging them neatly and stuffing the tops of boots with the tissue paper so they too will maintain their shape.

And what is a closet revamp without great smells? I personally prefer to use Dreft Laundry Spray over Febreze. It has a light baby powder scent and I adore it.

A large portion of my weekend was spent organizing.. preparing for school.. cleaning under beds, emptying out closets, and of course, organizing the bathroom. This is where the four of us spend the majority of the mornings once school starts so it can become quite crowded in there..
While browsing bathroom images for ideas on storage/organization, I came across these fun and colorful images.. Though my bathroom is lovely in cream and white with a calming feel, these colorful ones have me thinking.. They say bright citrus scents awaken the senses and provide energy.. as do colors... So, which would be best? Energy or Calm?

Summer Time, And The Livings Easy.

It seems as though summer is slowly coming to an end. We've had a few rainy days and the air feels like fall already. The cold morning air reminds me of the days soon to come. Though I love the fall I am not quite ready for it. I will miss the free time in the evenings spent with my girls.. no homework or early bedtimes.. playing barefoot in the grass, birthday parties, swimming, catching fireflies, drinking cold chardonnay on a hot sticky night, the smell of sunscreen, ice cream and Popsicles, flip flops,gardening,roller coasters and funnel cakes, and that perfect feeling of the sun warming my back.. oh how I will miss you summer...

These are perhaps the most divine sheers I have ever seen. They are so elegant and feminine.

Love the crown molding and the old medal peaking through the chipped white paint on this gorgeous railing.

I would sleep so well in this lovely room.

On Glamour.

I thought after my posts on antiques and paint chipped lovelies a little glamour was in order. You see I love to mix the two. An elegant room with perhaps an aged piece or two appropriately placed.

The crystal chandelier and sconce add glamour to the room while the sepia family photographs add interest. I look at this and think that the silver must be an antique family heirloom -because of the photos. It's interiors like this that I love to visit. The one's with questions, with personality and warmth.

I love the dramatic effect the dark color gives these two rooms. Though this room is a bit modern for my taste, the long lady like drapes add softness and warmth.

I love the colors in this room. It reminds me a bit of Jacqueline Kennedy's dressing room in the White House. The blue color is similar, and as she had a cheetah print settee to add a pop of glamour, this bed has a white fur throw.
Simple Elegance. I love it.

To me this room is pure glamour. I love mirrors in any room, and these two are just divine. I love the white drapes against the white walls. Also the pink sink pillows are just the right amount of color in this room. If you look closely into the large mirrors you can see the rest of the room.. which is darling.

Like the white on white in the previous photo, color on color in this room is just as lovely. I love the chair and the splash of red from the rug.

And the most simple photo of all, yet still very lovely. Marble.. mirror.. and a lovely silver box. Even small rooms can have glamour. I love the silver tray with lotion, perfume, and a bit of jewelry. I think every lady should have a space somewhere in her home for her own every day glamour. After all, is that not one of the greatest joys of being a girl?

You may recall my post about the chair that matched THIS stool. Well, here she is. A few minor imperfections, but I think she is just lovely.

Regretfully, I don't have a "before" picture of Elizabeth. I believe we paid $2.00 for her.
And this is just a little pretty I made from some old frames and scrap fabric. I'm not certain if they will stay in the room as right now it feels a bit too "matchy matchy". We'll see...

A few months ago I found an antique whicker swing for our front porch for $25 at a yardsale. It has paint chipping in all of the right places. When I saw it on the ground that day, my heart started racing and my stomach did a flip flop. I literally fell inlove with that swing.

Much to my dismay, when I took it home, Brad was less than inlove with said swing. " It looks like it's been setting in the sun for 100 years!" he said. "Esactly!" I said.
I've never understood why, but I am just drawn to these vintage or antique pieces. When I visit an antique shop, and I see... and especially when I touch the lovely curiosities, I can't help but imagine it's life before the shop.

I will imagine a lovely lady in pearls and red lipstick wearing the beautiful gloves for sale. Or as I browse the dusty books I will imagine the grand library in which they must have once belonged... I love to see the antique dollies and the tarnished silver that at one time must have been so grand.

And when I do purchase something.. it feels like I am bringing it back to life.. and I so love that feeling...
One of my favorite pieces of antique furniture that I own is this chair I bought a few years ago for $3.
Here it is in out dining room- I have made changes since this post...
I love the paint chips on it.. to me, it is perfect.

My home isn't full of antiques or paint chipped pieces. But I do so love the one's I do have..

Bedside Tables.

Last night after I finished my reading, I layed down my glasses and book on my bedside table. It could have been the wine, but I began to think about how much I adored my bedside table.. my own little space for my things on my side of the bed.. all mine.. I share my bed. I share my dresser. I share my closet. But not this.... she is mine.

No keys or loose change.. or crumpled old receipts like on his side of the bed.. no no.. just my little pretties and perhaps a coffee stain or two.

I started thinking about all of the many different varieties of bedside tables.

This morning as I went through my daily blog reads, I was so happy to come across a lovely site, Sweet Pea and Willow through one of my favorite blogs, Ada and Darcy.

The gorgeous chairs she has posted led me strait to their site.
As I browsed through the many MANY lovely images, all I could hear in my head was the song " I Enjoy Being A Girl" by one of my favorite singers, Peggy Lee.

I started thinking about all of the wonderful things I love about being a girl.

And then of the Gap commercial done with the song with one of my favorite actresses, Sara Jessica Parker.

And then I thought of one of my favorite perfumes, Lovely, by Sara Jessica Parker.

And how much those pictures remind me of one of the most beautiful and well known photographs of Miss Monroe.

And how I love the tulle in her dress.. and just tulle in general...

And beautiful feminine furniture and interiors.

And then I realized.

~ Just a recap.. light blue/gray walls. hardwood floors. blue and white china. bits of navy in the decor. silver hardware on the wood furniture. I have two antique chairs in which I have painted white and re-upholstered w/a creamy yellow fabric w/navy colored toile like flowers on it. {NEED to post pics}
I have added a few pops of pink here and there and I love it.. I cannot decide however, on the fabric for the throw pillows..

I LOVE all of these...

Right now I have one throw pillow {rectangular} on each sofa.. both are navy w/white damask like stitching..

I made custard with strawberries and blackberries.
I had to snap a picture of the strawberries in the collander.. I thought they just looked so fresh and pretty.

We also had pound cake with blackberries to go with the custard.. I must say, it was delicous!

The girls and I had fun dressing up in red, white and blue.

And we had our own little firework show.

Many things come to mind when I think of the 4th of July. First and foremost being my freedom. And how truly blessed I am to live in the United States of America. I think sometimes it is so easy to take for granted all of the many blessings we have.

So this weekend I wish for you and myself a very happy and humble Fourth of July.

May we have peace in our hearts and our home.

May we be grateful for the abundance of food before us.

And for the hands that prepare it.

Let there be laughter and joy.. happiness and understanding.

I look forward to watching my girls eat watermelon, run barefoot in the cool green grass, wave their flags proudly, catch fireflies and stare in awe at beautiful sparklers.

So let us come together.. friends, family, neighbors and strangers... and remember just how lucky we are.. and most of all... I want to thank God for this wonderful nation. And God please, Bless America.

This month my daughter Madison will turn ten. We have decided to have a Hippie Birthday Party as she herself is a peace loving "tree hugger".

I found this Daisy Chain Crown via Etsy. Unfortunately they are sold out. I am however, going to make one myself.

Our guests will make Daisy Chain crowns, bracelets, and necklaces as well.

Peace Punch for our little hippies.

And fortunately for me.. we will be listening to some great music...

And the main event? Tie Dye. T- shirts, and a pillow case in which her guests can write their birthday wishes for my sweet Madison.

If I could capture the essence of any of the many inspirational pictures I've seen, the one above would be it.

As you may or may not remember, I am in the midst of redoing my living room. My mother has given me a blue/white china plate that I simply adore, so I am changing my room from what once was "Old Hollywood Glamour" style, to something a little more ... well, perhaps grown up me?

I am struggling with it though. Because for a room with no "theme" it certainly feels like it.. almost as if I'm trying too hard.. does that make sense? And for those of you that love design as I do.. you must know that is a terrible feeling.. because if it doesn't feel right when putting it together.. it will not feel right ever..

When I had my old Hollywood prints, and my old French ads, it just felt right... perhaps a combination of the two would be good? forget good.. I think it is necessary.. I think perhaps, I am struggling because I may not be able to move on.. to remove my pretty little things I've been in love with for so long.. perhaps a slow "redo" is more suitable than a complete redo..

I am certainly babbling now.. so I will leave you with a few more inspirational images I've found and love..

Oh how I LOVE Mother of Pearl! I did a small google search to find her history and found that Mother of Pearl was used in decor' as far back as 4000 BC in Egypt.

I love the inlay on this mirror I would love to see this mirror hanging in my plum colored bedroom! It would match perfectly.. {swoon!}

I also love these mother of pearl mosaic tiles.. SO many things could be done with these! I would LOVE to tile an entire wall with one!

Black and White Outdoor Love.

It's summertime and I am stuck indoors... I thought a little outdoor inspiration in my favorite {black and white} color combination was in order...

This first one is quite immaculate.. the ceiling to floor drapes, the mirror.. I adore it.. it would be so comfortable and cozy.. the drapes allow for privacy when closed yet one can easily let the sunshine in.. I love the tiny pops of red to liven it up a bit.. and the chandelier? hello gorgeous!

This one is more my style.. I love the hanging votive candles and the hydrangeas.. the stone fireplace is so romantic and I love the natural elements used in the vignette..the comfy throw draped on the back of the chair and the candles on the ground are just begging you to come have a seat..

Another modern space..yet the antique chairs behind the sheers and the large mirror add romance to the space..

And I know this is a popular image {rightfully so} but I had to post it.. I LOVE the use of yellow and the stripes.. I adore black and white stripes...
So now I am inspired! I will leave in an hour.. go home and pour some Merlot.. and then go outdoors and do a little of decorating my own outdoor space.. will make for a lovely evening..

Married on Monday.
I made her bouquet out of two dozen roses and wrapped it with lace from our mother's wedding veil.. my mother was married to our father thirty five years ago.

Some may think it horrid to cut fabric from her veil, but when I suggested it to my mother her face lit up with a smile as she said, "and that can be her something old."

I love how the once white lace has turned to a beautiful ivory. I hope to do the same for my wedding.

My Paris Abella.

Just posting a little inspiration for my daughters room redo. I am half way there and will try to post a "sneak peek" this evening.

Paris is a sweet, quiet and tender hearted little girl. She loves to play with horses and her babies. I wanted her room to reflect her personality and so far I think it is doing just that.

She has a wooden play kitchen from Pottery Barn Kids in her room. That has been my biggest challenge.. it's a small room already and with a refrigerator, stove and cupboard, it hasn't been easy to create a special space for everything she has.

I have a few ideas in mind though, so we'll see..

I literally gasped when I cam across these {John Merrell} chairs via Daisy Pink Cupcake blog today...

The white dainty curves are so feminine and appear delicate... then you have that sophisticated and bold black and white fabric on the back which creates the perfect combination.. they seem to say "Yes, I am delicate, but don't mistake that for a weakness". Which is a philosophy I like to live by.. is it strange that chairs can speak to me that way?

Whether it is or not, I care not.. because it is how I feel about things like the home, the interior, old furniture, etc.. and I honestly believe many of you out there feel the same...

I am in the middle of redoing my youngest daughters{Paris Abella} bedroom. Her walls are a mint green and I have added a few touches of pastel pink. Her drapes are the long dupioni silk Shabby Chic drapes. I love her room so far, however, the bed is in serious need of some color. I would like to add some throw pillows. I know that I want a few in pastel pink, but to match the Eifell towers in her room, I thought a few home made throw pillows would be nice. I looked for fabric with the keywork "Paris". This is what I found. I love both but cannot decide between the two. I know that the Vintage ladies would match the feel of her room, but I am loving the bright colors and fun feel of the other fabric. Any suggestions?

Oh yes, this is her bedding.. Her walls however, are a mint green and I am accessorizing with pastel pink.

I am helplessly inlove with the roses in my garden this year.

I look forward to early Saturday mornings when I can go outside and look for new growth in my garden while I slowly sip my first cup of morning coffee.
