Yellow.

Sunshine.

Warmth.

Spontaneous.

Bold.

Intellect.

Energy.

Friendship.

Seems a wise choice.

This color yellow.

And Now. I Wait.

I've done the paperwork.

I've passed the interview.

I've hit the books and want more.

Is this? Or is this not? The staircase to our new future?

I will ponder as I go to sleep tonight.

But only time will tell.

As most of you know, this is something I have dreamed of for a very long time. I truly hope the stars are in my corner tonight. I have had many things in my life that I was certain would happen do just the opposite. I don't know if I can bare that in this case. I feel that I have been given this passion for a reason. And I can only hope the reason is a grand one.

More on this when I know something.

Good night for now...

Do Come In?

We speak daily about the importance of the interior. Tonight however, I was thinking about that one place each of our guests must visit before entering our work of art, our home.

Our Entry way.

Very Important.

I believe the front door and entry way are the first sign of what one will find inside.

I believe that the personality the home owner wishes to portray begins with the first ring of the bell.

So keep in mind just how important step one is.

And never, ever be afraid to try colors outside of the box.

Because the results can and most likely will be amazing.

A few things to remember to keep on hand in an entryway: Umbrellas, A Mirror for last minute glances and lipstick applications ;) Fresh Flowers, A place for keys to be stored, and maybe even a few photo frames....

Then and Now.

I am hopelessly and willingly inlove with an era I missed but still somehow feel as if I belong in.

A time of love letters.

A time of relentlessly beautiful and more importantly meaningful music.

A time of great hair, dresses and red lipstick.

{Can you find Marilynn?}

I think that is why I am drawn to pieces that are or appear time worn.

Because those pieces have a history, a beautiful past, a story.

These pieces, this mirror... like a reflection of it's beautiful history.

These "reflections" that remain in homes in my opinion, bring not only timeless beauty, but character that cannot be bought at a store.

This armoire for example.. GORGEOUS.

LOVE IT.

And I think what I love most is that it isn't being used for quilts or linens but instead a darling cocktail cabinet.

Traditional sofa but in a beautiful gold color.

Old family photographs displayed in new matted black frames.

Original, classic hardware on a boldly painted door.

Wood floors painted white and re-upholstered classic chairs.

These rooms were obviously built years previous, but have been updated perfectly with delicate touches such as paint color, modern furnishings, or just a fabulous chandelier.

Enjoy..

I believe this to be an old attic turned sun room. The chandelier adds just a hint of glamour to this soft palette.

Tomorrow.

Let the coffee be divine.

And the flowers be fragrant.

Let the sunshine be warm.

And the laughter be plenty.

I plan on making the best of every minute of my day tomorrow. I need the sunshine. Even just a hint of spring will do. I am going to go to the market for a gourmet coffee and then slowly browse the stands for herbs to plant.

Then I want to take my darling girls for a walk in the sun and hear their sweet laughter.

Candles in the evening with my darling.
Here is wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Ode To Dorothy.

I don't know if it's the snow, the slush, or just life.. but these last few days have been less than dreamy...
Tonight as I try to relax by reading some of my favorite blogs I can't help but hear Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow...

Perhaps if I slip on some ruby red's?

then perhaps...

Someday I'll Wish Upon A Star and Wake Up Where the Clouds Are Far Behind Me....

Where troubles melt like lemon drops..

High Above the Chimney Tops That's Where You'll Find Me...

Somewhere Over The Rainbow Blue Birds Fly.. If Birds Fly Over the Rainbow Why, Oh Why Can't I?
Well.. it is a bit cold for flying.....
I suppose I will let that be Dorothy's rainbow dream..

Mine however, looks more like this.....
