Home Horoscope 2009.

Taurus

Getting back to basics is your priority in 2009; in your life and in your home, you're drawn to substance as much as style. During hectic times, your home is a serene haven that keeps you grounded. You'll seek out one-of-a-kind pieces this year, but nothing fussy or overwrought—the more organic and natural, the more beautiful it appears to you.
** I think it's so funny that my horoscope says I'm drawn to substance as much as style.. I think that sums up esactly what I was trying to say in my post below! {Simple}**

2009 Home Keyword: Green
Sustainable, eco-friendly design isn’t just a trend to earthy Taureans—it's an important aspect of feeling comfortable in your space. This year, you'll source materials for your home thoughtfully and responsibly.

** I cannot wait to get started on my garden this spring.. I was reading in Elle how one can start herbs inside through the winter and then transplant them to the ground in spring.. The image above is Rosemary Irene.. Not only is it beautiful, but perhaps my favorite herb of all.. partly because of it's flavor.. but mostly because of it's scent.. There is nothing like the smell of fresh Rosemary..

Ode To Dorothy.

I don't know if it's the snow, the slush, or just life.. but these last few days have been less than dreamy...
Tonight as I try to relax by reading some of my favorite blogs I can't help but hear Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow...

Perhaps if I slip on some ruby red's?

then perhaps...

Someday I'll Wish Upon A Star and Wake Up Where the Clouds Are Far Behind Me....

Where troubles melt like lemon drops..

High Above the Chimney Tops That's Where You'll Find Me...

Somewhere Over The Rainbow Blue Birds Fly.. If Birds Fly Over the Rainbow Why, Oh Why Can't I?
Well.. it is a bit cold for flying.....
I suppose I will let that be Dorothy's rainbow dream..

Mine however, looks more like this.....

Small, small Progress.

So as you can see the color I decided to use.... I LOVE black and white for interior as well as fashion... Anyhow.. below is a picture of a bed rail.. I don't want to post a picture of the bed yet because it's not complete.. I will tell you that it is a four poster bed and I plan on hanging sheers from the railing.. I can't wait to finish it..

Notice the glass door knob? Those are one of the many reasons why I fell inlove with this house when we found it..

Snow Day.

After multiple attempts to do so I was unable to make it to work today..

My morning has been unusually slow...

Afternoon and I've already had a glass {or two lol} of chardonnay..

* Guess which little girl in the picture is me?

Taken pictures of the newly fallen snow around the house...

More coffee and a few thank you notes written...

Next on the list is tidying up the house and working on Madison's bedroom.. she is making a collage for her wall... I think that is an official initiation into pre-teen hood isn't it? The collage on your wall with pictures from magazines, etc.. uh oh... ;)

October.

It Is!!!

Most likey October 16th.

Here are a few ideas I found and adore and absolutely plan on using.
First of all our favorite time of year is the fall.. so October is perfect. And what is more romantic and cozy than candlelight on a cold fall evening? I am planning on a candle lit ceremony..
Notice the candles all around? Even on the floor.. I love it..

Sweet chardonnay and warm red wine.

The ceremony and reception will take place in the same room. Therefore, I will be using place settings for the guest. I love the idea of the oranges for place settings. I also plan on using small pumpkins and maybe apples.

A cozy fireplace mantel. The place I've selected has a fireplace. If I can't use it for a fire I like the idea of filling it with personalized pumpkins and candles.

Just some decorations.. I love the simplicity and warmth of the candles in the Mason jars.. delicately tied with a sweet ribbon..

Cranberry Champagne= yum and definitely!

Dear Cupid.

Thank you for my Sweet Heart..

However, if you can find room in your bag of magic arrows, could you send a few of these goodies my way?

Etched Candle Set- Includes Wilde Flower {blackberry leaf} Scarlet Geranium {sophisticated floral scent} Belle of India {exotic jasmine} and Cassis {cassis and fig} Can you say yummy!?!

Geometric Bangle = Need!

Loving the Black Rabbit Fur Pillow for my bedroom...

And perhaps my favorite.. The Cornucopia Bath Elixr.. "Layers of blackberry, apple and melon combined with cinamonn, violet and lantanna blooms. Undercurrents of vetiver, teak and vanilla oak base the aroma with richness."
